My last post shared a devastating experience we had last weekend, this weekend and the past few days have been just the opposite, what a wonderful start to the Spring season…sunny and temperatures up into the 70′s! My husband spent much of the day outside cleaning up the yard and starting to repair some erosion we experienced. He took out the leaf blower and removed the cover of leaves off the gardens…crocuses are blooming, the daffodils are a few inches out of the ground, the tulips are peeking out about an inch, the rhubarb and horseradish are showing signs of life, and many other things are showing hints of green. As there is still potential for cold weather, I have to again protect some of these things, but not all, most are hardy and will do fine over the next month or so until the temperatures stay on the warmer side.
Can you imagine not being able to see all of this beauty? I can’t…but having a family member who is disabled (can see, but not hear) and being exposed to people with such challenges makes me appreciate all the more the gift of sight that I have…I don’t take it for granted, and do all I can to care for my eyes.
This means getting my annual eye exams and keeping my prescription eyeglasses up to date. We did this last fall when I got my current prescription with insurance, and asked the optometrist to give me a written prescription so that I could purchase inexpensive eyeglasses online at Zenni Optical, a place my husband has shopped before…the prices are amazingly low, I wear transition lenses and my insurance covered one pair of glasses, I’d like to get a pair just for reading, and can do that for as low as just under $9.00 depending upon the frames. If you’re curious about Zenni and want to read an article with a review, click here.
