Pam and Heidi,

Thank you for your comments and visits.

Pam, I can picture the idea for a planter you're talking about, would just have to line the baskets with something, what a great idea!

Heidi, hope you have fun adding to your garden.

Since my internet has been down so much this week, haven't had time to blog much, so was out cleaning the leaves off our gardens (not warm here like where you are, Heidi) and enjoyed seeing my crocuses blooming, tulips just up out of the ground, rhubarb coming up and many herbs peeking out of the ground, such a wonderful and welcome site! It's been a LONG COLD winter!

Have a great week!

Michelle is turning into a wonderful role-model and what I love is she doesn't seem to be at all pretentious. And what is even more inspiring is that others will see what she does and "copy" her which is not only the highest form of flattery, it makes sense - especially in todays economic climate.

Fruits and vegetables are at an all time high in the markets and if you want the pesticide free you have to spend even more in places like "Whole Foods" etc.

My hubby and I are getting ready to plant more than trees and ornamentals, we have had tomatoes and basil forever (he's Scilian) and we decided to plant a few other goodies this year. Having a garden is good for the soul and the belly!

Have a great day,

Michelle is being a good role model for our youth. We need to get back to growing our own fruits and vegetables, just to be healthier.

I saw a cute idea today in Southern Living magazine. They had made an herb garden in one of those 3-tiered hanging, wire veggie baskets and hung it outside.

Hi Eileen and Debra,

Yes, it is a great idea, in fact before I came and found your posts, I was reading an article in people magazine about her garden, she even plans to have a bee hive, and would like to try and make honey. I believe she is getting help and support from the cook that used to work for the family in Chicago, who is now at the White House.

I love the fact that the First Lady is planting a vegetable garden and having local school children help her break ground. What a great way to draw attention to the importance of eating healthy, locally grown produce.
