My gardening this year has been interrupted by a major project on our property. We live in an area where you have to have septic systems, and our town required us to install a new one. This is not only a messy job, digging up much of our back yard, but it is very expensive. It has us thinking more about our home than our garden for at least a little while. Is there anything else that needs attention? Do we have enough insurance? And how can I find ways to pinch pennies on my home insurance, and find a service that acts quickly? Have I considered discounts that might be available because I have smoke alarms; because of the kind of locks I have on my home; because I have a burglar alarm or other safety devices? What good is a beautiful garden if I don’t have a home to enjoy it from? So I’m taking some time to explore my options and not taking the insurance we’ve had for 24 years for granted. Where can we cut back? Where might we need more, for example, do we need flood insurance? You may want to visit this home insurance link for some help.
This weekend, after the loud noise of trucks digging, breaking rock, and digging some more, I’m going to need some “garden therapy”, thankfully, the gardens in the front yard have been out of reach of the trucks. The soil here is terribly dry, so I’ll be pulling weeds, cultivating, watering and feeding tomorrow.
